Wednesday, February 9, 2000: This site at Gadot has a memorial to fallen Israeli soldiers surrounded by former Syrian bunkers. Notice that the man in the foreground is carrying a rifle. We first encountered this in Tel Aviv when a rowdy group of teenagers passed by us. One of them was carrying a rifle. Apparently, he was the "licenced adult" required by law to accompany all school groups as a deterrent to terrorists.
